Some nights stay with you. Not because every detail was perfect, but because the room felt right. The people you wanted were there. And then that song came on.

Good Measure Entertainment is a Nashville DJ entertainment business built around that feeling: music with personality and celebrations shaped around the people in them.

Meet John Fentress

John Fentress is the Owner and Operator of Good Measure Entertainment. With a background in music and audio, he brings careful preparation, clear communication, and a thoughtful ear to each event. John works directly with every client to understand the occasion, shape the music, and arrive ready to deliver the agreed plan.

Your occasion sets the direction

A wedding should feel like the couple. A company celebration should fit its audience and purpose. A private party should sound like the reason everyone gathered.

The starting point is your event, your taste, and the atmosphere you want to create. Bring must-plays, do-not-plays, preferred genres, exact versions, and guidance for guest requests. A fully selected playlist is welcome when planned in advance. Otherwise, John selects within the agreed direction. Country, pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, and electronic/dance are core musical interests. Clean versions are the default for company and all-ages events; explicit songs need advance client approval.

A clear plan before promises

Good Measure plans service and equipment for the actual event and confirms scope in writing. Agreed rental equipment is coordinated, tested, collected, set up, and returned. MC responsibilities, ceremony or speech audio, lighting, travel, and extra spaces depend on the quote.

What happens after an inquiry

  1. Share a date or range, venue or area, event type, and current needs.
  2. Consult with John about music, schedule, and production.
  3. Review a written scope and custom quote.
  4. Sign the service agreement and pay the 30% retainer to reserve the date. An inquiry, consultation, or quote does not hold it.
  5. Plan music and event details together.
  6. Have a final planning conversation.
  7. Lock final songs, exact versions, announcements, names, schedule, and cues 30 days before the event. The remaining balance is due 14 days before the event.

Good Measure acknowledges inquiries within one business day and provides a custom quote within two business days once enough date, venue, schedule, and production information is available. Contact hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Central; consultations are by appointment. Events are scheduled separately.

Good Measure serves Nashville and nearby Middle Tennessee. Travel needs and costs depend on the venue and written quote; longer-distance and destination events are considered individually.
